Do you reeeeally know how to use Visualization?
And how can you maximize this magic for your Content process?
You can use this magical strategy to get better outcomes AND enjoy them!
When you set goals and make decisions about what you want for your business and content, do you know how to effectively use Visualization?
To start — Did you know that it goes in just like a MEMORY?
That’s HUGE to know, isn’t it?
I won’t go on and on about the science behind this (I have done that in prior vids), but I want to offer up how to USE this powerful tool for content, and some things you may not have thought of!
#1 — We record “imaginings” in similar patterns to how we record memory.
The more realistic and tangible the visualization, the more potent the neural pathways.
As we envision a scenario, and particularly when we include how we feel WITH the sensory details such as images, sounds, tastes, scents, etc., it becomes so real for our brain and subconscious minds that it goes down into neural pathways, similar to memory-making.
So the more real you make that visualization for yourself, the more it gets recorded as if it’s happened. The next time you want to experience that scenario (like in “real life”) it will be easier to make it come to pass — the neural pathways are there.
Essentially, if you want something to happen, imagining it in detail is a fabulous first step to bringing that same experience out into the tangible.
#2 — The Emotional component can get overlooked.
This is the most common mistake I see with practicing visualization.
We often see advice and tips about visualization that tell us to imagine exactly what we want, down to the details of things like earning a certain dollar amount, attracting a particular number of clients, etc — goals, in other words.
But there is an inherent mistake when we only focus on those external factors.
Allow me to explain.
Have you ever really really wanted a particular thing – let’s say going back to childhood, wanting a particular toy, or maybe an ice cream. But a sequence of events unfolds, you fall down and scrape your knee, so then mom buys you the ice cream, or you get the toy but only after you have a fight with your sister, or after you’ve already realized you preferred something else instead.
The end result is — you got the thing you wanted, but you weren’t HAPPY.
When we visualize, the emotional component is very important. The emotional outcome is actually MORE important than the measurable externals. It’s no good receiving a windfall of money if something awful brought it about.
Another key consideration is that we also limit ourselves with those measurables. The true outcome might be even better than we thought possible.
Instead of getting so specific, allow the Universe to co-create and play with your desires. There may be something even better in store than X dollars, or whatever the goal was.
And most importantly, visualize how to you want to FEEL. You want to feel pleased, excited, satisfied — not just have a specific outcome!
#3 — Go bigger picture, especially with your Content.
What is the overarching goal or desired outcome?
When you apply this to your Content, keep the bigger picture in mind. What is the over-arching goal of the Content?
- Is it to be known for something specific?
- Is it to connect with cool, interested people?
- Is it to entertain, educate, attract?
As you visualize the outcomes of the content — the latest blog, the social media post, the webinar — keep that in view of the visualized, desired outcome.
It’s really not just about signing up 5 new clients, is it?
You want to feel satisfied that you delivered a valuable message, or that you enhanced the relationship with your audience, or that you are becoming known for your expertise as a “go to.”
The truth is, it’s really never about a number, is it?
So keep that in mind as you visualize what you want, and keep that bigger picture up on the screen!!!
How can you be creative with this?
Can you begin a consistent practice of designing those desired emotional outcomes?
You might just be AMAZED at the results!
