Why is CONSISTENCY so vital with Content?
Let’s peek inside what we know about our brains and Subconscious mind…
How much exposure does someone need to form an opinion about competence?
Here is what neuroscience research shows us:
- Some people only need to be exposed to the source once.
- Some people need to have multiple exposures over a long period.
- Some people need to have frequent exposures over a brief period.
You want your audience to be able to see your expertise, to recognize you know what you’re talking about.
But each of us is a bit different in how many times or how frequently we each need to be exposed to expertise to form the conclusion that the individual really does “know their stuff.” For those who only need one instance, they may watch a single video and decide they not only like you, but trust you. However for other members of your audience (and frankly the largest percentage of the population), they will need multiple encounters with your expertise and content in order to reach that conclusion.
What this means for the frequency of sharing our Content:
- A small % need just one interaction with your Content.
- A larger group needs to see your Content consistently for a brief period.
- A larger group needs consistent interaction over a longer span of time.
Let this inform your strategy when it comes to frequency and consistency.
Consistent, repeated interaction of our content with our audience is essential in terms of building that relationship as someone who is valuable, trustworthy, and a worthwhile “go to” person.
The more consistently you can do that, the more you are building that long-term investment in the relationship with your audience and their buy in to YOU as well!
You are speaking to all three groups, and most of your audience needs both frequent and CONSISTENT interaction over time, with you and your Content.
This consistency is essential for them to conclude that you are both competent and trustworthy, and ultimately valuable to work with!!
