Do you feel confident in Re-Purposing?
How to do it without losing VALUE.
You can save your energy without losing quality!
It’s easy to slip into feeling OVERWHELMED with content creation.
Sometimes it’s because of reading too many “helpful suggestions” and sometimes it’s our own desire to be really good at things that drives us.
But it doesn’t have to HARD, if we can get STRATEGIC.
Here’s how to Re-Purpose quality Content without losing value for your audience.
#1 — Develop, over time, a repository.
We can craft our “Content Library” from our very best work.
This really helps ensure consistency, which is quite important to our audience.
A Content Library is our compilation of videos, blogs, quick tips, images, memes, etc., that all support and lead back to our key mission, services, and content themes or pullars.
You don’t have to put EVERYTHING in there!
Instead, choose your favorites. The works of art, the best and strongest messages.
You could use this to help guide you in your selection:
- Which content pieces are you most proud of?
- Which content pieces genuinely point to and relate to your key services?
- Which content pieces are especially engaging and exciting?
- Which content pieces have your audience connected to already?
Each time you craft something especially wonderful, add it to your library!
#2 — EVALUATE this collection regularly.
Our business changes over time.
Is there anyone who has truly NEVER pivoted even a little?
We follow our Intuition as we evolve and change.
Pivots and shifts are signs of GROWTH.
Shifts in our focus signify that we are paying attention both to our audience’s needs, and to our own.
For this reason, it’s essential that we periodically re-evaluate Content to ensure it’s still a match to our message.
Check that each piece is still relevant to who your audience is today, and to what your service focus is now.
Don’t be afraid to “archive” good pieces that aren’t a fit. It doesn’t mean you won’t ever share them, it just means they don’t belong inside that repository of work that will be re-purposed and shared more often.
#3 — Craft Variations for the Library.
I’d bet there are a hundred ways to say mostly the same thing!
But the key is that we all HEAR DIFFERENTLY.
You can approach your topic from a multitude of different angles, and thus reach many different perspectives.
When you craft variations of similar work, it allows you freedom to re-purpose that original piece.
So when you write a longer blog, chop it up into smaller bite-sized tips, turn it into images and memes, or record a short video or audio using that blog as a base.
Your Content can be versatile.
Once you have variations, add them all to that repository, that gorgeous Content Library.
Grab a piece when you need it, for a quick tip, to answer a question, or share on social media.
All of your Content has already been evaluated for it’s being a match to your message, so you can freely share and re-share these pieces.
Ideas:
- Record a video and chop up the transcript
- Crop a longer podcast into a shorter clip for social media
- Design some clever quotes or quick tips
- Convert a long blog into a video transcript
- What can you add? The possibilities are endless!
